Duties Description The Assistant Park Recreation Supervisor has a broad range of responsibilities, which include providing programming and supporting maintenance and operations.
This position works collaboratively with park management, staff, and educators across the region in a variety of capacities.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assist with the development and coordination of Regional Recreation Programs.
Coordinate all operations with Regional Administrative staff, facility managers and other state agencies; Assist the Recreation Director as needed; Place orders for program supplies, prizes, and awards; Prepare program posters, flyers, applications, and press releases; Prepare Budgets, process payment to vendors, deposit all income (sponsorships and entry fees); Answer inquiries from public regarding regional recreation programs, facility fees, hours of operation, rules, and regulations; Update parks brochures and calendar of events; Prepare PowerPoint presentations for various meetings and sponsorship proposals; Deal with complaints and irate patrons in a professional manner; Supervise subordinate staff; Assign duties to staff.

Ability to read and understand both written and/or verbal instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate and conduct state business.
Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver's license as a term and condition of employment.
Must be willing to work outdoors year-round and in all weather conditions.
Daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday work is required.
Must have excellent communication skills and be willing and able to speak publicly to diverse audiences.
Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Must enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Must have experience in or demonstrate willingness to learn the following programs:
Facebook, Instagram, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Canva, G Suite, and Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).

Candidates may be required to report to other NY State Parks and facilities throughout the Long Island Region on an as needed basis.
The posted hiring rate is the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 12 ($46,146) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,087) The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($56,324) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,087).
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
