Senior Landscape Architect

Under the supervision of higher-level staff, the Senior Landscape Architect will oversee landscape architectural activities and projects for the Long Island Region; perform the full range of professional landscape architecture activities as assigned by the District Manager; supervise landscape architecture staff and administrators. You will be required to use your professional license and registration seal. Duties include but are not limited to:
o Developing, implementing, and overseeing the preparation of plans for historic sites, parks, recreational, and other facilities; o Managing projects from inception to construction closeout, with both in house and consultant resources; o Reviewing work activities for quality and conformity to professional standards, NYS code, environmental requirements and standards for accessibility; o Performing and/or managing the preparation of contract drawings and specifications; o Preparing graphics and presentations to communicate design intent for internal and public presentations; o Reviewing, approving, and signing landscape architectural plans, estimates, specifications, contracts, completed work, contract changes and payments. Manage contractor work activities, assuring that work is completed in accordance with plans and contracts; o Coordinating work activities with park management to assure that work is completed in accordance with other programs and project deadlines; o Coordinating the work of other professional and technical staff assigned to a project; review and approve procedures, guidelines, and specifications and contract documents o Consulting with park management and other stakeholders to obtain input, resolve problems, discuss and coordinate related developments, and explain projects and programs; o Overseeing consultant and contract work; prepares scope of work for and administers contracts, including the review of the technical components; o Assuring work is performed within budget and on schedule, reviewing and recommending payments, and assuring that documents and reports comply with code and conform with standards; and schedules and completes topographical surveys and soil investigations.

Salary Range:
From $86576 to $108498 Annually

Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Senior Landscape Architect and a New York State Professional Landscape Architect's License with current registration. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter. Section 70.1 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Senior Landscape Architect AND possess a New York State Professional Landscape Architect's License with current registration. Provisional Appointment:
In the event that there is no valid eligible list at this location, candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications for the Senior Landscape Architect may apply and if hired, will be provisionally appointed:

Qualifications:
You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title allocated to Grade 18 or higher and a New York State Professional Landscape Architect's License with current registration is a requirement of this position. Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
